Spectacle Lenses
Hi-Index Lenses - New 'hi-index' materials mean that your lenses can be made thinner, lighter and better looking. This is particularly useful if you have a high power prescription. No longer will you have to have thick unsightly lenses or have your choice of frames restricted.
Varifocal Lenses - They are an increasingly popular alternative to bifocal lenses or having to carry a pair of reading spectacles in addition to your everyday distance vision spectacles. Because they have a gradual change in their optical power, there is no disconcerting jump between your distance and reading vision. As a result, varifocal lenses give you better middle distance focus. They also look more attractive without the dividing line of bifocals.
Lens Coatings - A scratch resistant coating will prolong the life of your lenses because it reduces scratching from general wear and tear. An anti-reflection coating virtually eliminates the light reflected from the surface of your lenses. Not only will this make you look better when wearing glasses - as there are no reflections getting in the way of normal eye contact - but it also reduces the glare from oncoming headlights making night driving safer.
VDU Lenses - If you regularly use a computer screen and experience eye strain, you may need spectacles specifically designed for VDU use. Under EU legislation you could be entitled to eyesight test and glasses paid for by your employer. Local companies and their staff are welcome to contact us for details.
Prescription Sunglasses
Our practice offers a wide choice of stunning styles which can be made up to your prescription. These are produced to the same high standards as our spectacles and include the latest frames from brands such as Serengeti.
Light Sensitive Sunglasses - Your prescription sunglasses can be made up with single vision, bifocal or varifocal lenses. They are also available with photochromic lenses , which have a light tint indoors yet darken in sunlight. Modern photochromic sunglasses are comfortable to wear because they are made with fast-reacting lightweight plastic lenses. Different lifestyles and sunlight conditions call for different types of sunglasses. For example, we can provide you with sunglasses designed for driving or water sports. Our dispensing staff will give you professional advice on the most suitable lenses and frames for your needs.
